I've been really wanting to get back to the excitement I've felt with my painting and realize that the most fun I have with it is when I'm trying to do something more spontaneous, which often happens when I use watercolor and pencil. It's amazing how alot of the "needing to get it right" goes away when I switch mediums as I'm used to working in oils. So. I think I'm going to be doing this for awhile!!

My next door neighbor's yard is teeming with flowers, greens, fruit and veggies! Truly amazing. He had way too many peaches this year--lucky for me. I took him a cobbler I made from them, so hopefully there will be more!  It's been quite some time since I've painted a little still life like this. As I am used to painting my figurative paintings from photographs, it was amazing to me how much concentration and energy it took and I'd forgotten how the eye just keeps seeing more and more color, the more you look--what a wonder!

Last Taste of Summer

I really loved working with these colors and the abstract quality this painting ended up having. It's so different from what I usually choose to paint--people, animals, pretty much anything moving! Fun to paint and fun to look at!

The collie is such a beautiful creature! This one was seen at the dog beach north of La Jolla, CA. Too much fun!
